Simple and practical: Making Fleece Baby Blanket

Once you've picked out the main color or pattern, get a smaller piece (1/8th meter wide) of a color or pattern that looks nice with the big piece. We're going to use that as an accent.The next step is to cut the blanket so it has a nice edge. If you are going to make a lot of blankets, I would recommend that you look at the rulers in the fabric notions area that have pretty edges like scallops or diamonds. There are also rolling cutters that make a world of difference to the process (you'll also need to get a cutting mat to use this). If you are making one or two you can do fine without either of those things. If you think you'll be making more, I highly recommend that you make the small investment.

If you are using a specialty ruler, pick the edge you want to use and either mark on the fabric and then use scissors to cut it or use the rolling cutter and ruler together.If you are working with a regular ruler, draw a straight line along the edge of the fabric as big as you want to make the blanket. Then, using scissors, cut inside the line in either a scallop or 'v' pattern until you've made it all the way around the blanket.Once you've finished that, all that is left is to make some accents with the other fabric. Cut 4 strips of fleece about 1 inch wide and 6-8 inches long. Make two small cuts (less than an inch long and about an inch apart) in the big blanket in each corner. Thread a strip into each of the cuts and tie a pretty knot in each corner.
