Fourth-grade students help foster children.
OAK PARK — Early this school year, Norup International School teachers Jessica DeGroot Raschel Blanket and Christina Schindler read the book "Three Cups of Tea" with their fourth-grade classes. The book is about Greg Mortenson, an American Baby Confort who raised funds to build a school in a poor Pakistani village. He then started an international Ispahan Mat service-learning program called Pennies for Peace, which teaches kids they can change the world through simple actions such as donating pennies.
Norup's fourth-graders liked the idea, but decided they wanted to do more.
