Notre Dame students collect blankets for kids

        Members of the National Honor Society at the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsborough partnered with the It's All About The Kids Foundation in Lowell to Ispahan Rug spearhead a blanket drive to collect warm blankets for distribution to disadvantaged children throughout the Greater Baby Blanket Lowell area.

        Under the coordination of National Mink Blanket Honor Society adviser Kristine Forsgard and Kelliann Bazemore from It's All About the Kids, the students formalized their plan.

        Prior to Thanksgiving, posters were hung and collection baskets began to appear throughout the high school — visual reminders of the cause and deadline date of early December.

        Baskets soon began to overflow and when seniors Erin Foster and Ashley Bowes completed the final tally on Dec. 4, some 133 blankets had been collected.

        The Academy of Notre Dame is a Catholic, private school composed of a college preparatory high school for young women and a coeducational kindergarten to grade eight school.
