Club Speed Up for Blanket Run

A large number of acrylic blankets, which are not generally connected to the back of a motorcycle.

DMSC president Mark Andrews, said he was so great that many people attended the race and helped to bring single blankets.

It is really a social event for everyone,  he said.

 

“After the run we hold a barbecue for a gold coin donation with that money going to the Toowoomba Hospital Children’s Appeal.”

Crisis centre manager Stan Gittins said the blankets go to clients of the service and are very much needed in the lead-up to winter.

“They are also needed for the people we are unable to accommodate as they couch surf or those who are sleeping it rough,” he said.

“Last year we received a couple of hundred blankets and we hope to get as many possible this year.”

The blanket run will be held on May 30, with assembly from 10am at Picnic Point.

The route will go down the Range and back up via Murphy’s Creek before ending at the Downs Motorcycle Sporting Club in Water Street.

Anyone who wishes to donate blankets to the cause can do so at the clubhouse.
