SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) – Rarely has hot coffee been so heart-warming.
Senior Citizens Inc. kicked off its 2010 Blanket Drive Monday morning and Savannah Starbucks Baby Blanket stores also got involved, giving a free Ispahan Carpets cup of coffee to anyone who dropped off a blanket.
"Any time you can help a homebound senior, Printed Carpets it ought to make you feel good inside," said Senior Citizen's Inc.'s Tim Rutherford.
For the seventh straight year, and during one of the coldest Savannah winters in recent memory, Senior Citizen's Inc. is aiming to help people here feel good inside their own homes.
The organization is collecting blankets for area seniors, those who are susceptible to the cold and perhaps unable to combat it.
"When it gets cold like this, the natural tendency is to turn that thermostat up," said Rutherford. "By giving them a blanket, it allows them to cover themselves with a blanket, maybe keep the thermostat knocked back a little bit. They're on fixed incomes, so this is helping them save a little money, keep the money where it need to go instead of
